Have you considered doing something epic? I mean really epic - that completely takes you out of your comfort zone? Well, my guest today has not only done that but she has done it in her later years of life.
Kathleen Donnelly Israel found a new future to dream about when the retirement dreams she and her husband shared were dashed by his illness and she ended up being his carer for 17 years.
This plucky lady, who graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Art from San Diego State University and studied Expressive Arts Therapy at the European Graduate School in Switzerland, decided to walk the Camino Santiago de Compostela at the age of 69. From this came her book, Wisdom on the Camino, a delightful and inspiring story of a spiritual journey from St. Jean Pied de Port in Southern France, a 500-mile walking pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela in Northern Spain. It includes wisdoms shared with people along the way about forgiveness, and the importance of honoring the possibilities that exist for each of us in our lives.
In this episode, you will learn the following:
Quote:
"I believe that I was a valiant spirit who decided to come in here even knowing that I would attract adversity. And then in the end, the adversity was part of the cure." ~ Kathleen Donnelly Israel
